Sacra/Profana: RetroX: A Retrospective eXperience

Kicking off our 10th anniversary celebration, this program will feature a number of our “greatest hits” from past seasons. Founding Director Dr. Krishan Oberoi and Artistic Director Juan Carlos Acosta will be sharing conducting duties.

SACRA/PROFANA: Summer Choral Intensive

Join us for the SCI Final Concert when high school and middle school singers will come together for a week-long intensive choral learning environment and celebration of the arts. On Saturday, July 14th, they will present the culmination of that learning alongside the 20 professional voices of SACRA/PROFANA’s core chorus.

Sacra/Profana: Building Bridges Spanning Water

“Water has been a favorite subject of poets, painters and musicians since the beginning of recorded history. While choral music is relatively late to the game, there are a number of stunning choral pieces with water as a thematic element. This season we have been exploring the idea of “building bridges” and for this concert we will feature repertoire about water, metaphorical bridges, and even actual bridges.” Juan Carlos Acosta, Associate Artistic Director

Bridges of Collaboration: Re-Covering the Music of Carole King

Carole King is one of the most important singer/songwriters of the 20th Century: her influence stretches well beyond her own recordings. Our program will consist of many of the songs King wrote in collaboration with Gerry Goffin and others. The second half of the program will feature songs from “Tapestry” Carole King’s iconic album. All songs feature new arrangements performed by members of SACRA/PROFANA collaborating with each other as instrumentalists and vocalists. Juan Carlos Acosta, Conductor.
