The San Diego Women’s Chorus is proud to present a monumental spring 2019 concert performance “Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall,” which includes a brand new 8-movement work by the same name and other song selections that fit the theme of courage, connection, and standing up for justice. The Quiet No More commission honors the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City in 1969 and tells the story of the events that kickstarted the modern LGBTQ movement across the world.
“Quiet No More” has been co-commissioned by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and Gay Men’s Chorus of LA, and will feature performances by choruses through the US in 2019, making it the largest collaboration in the history of LGBTQ choruses. SDWC will premiere the SSAA work and is the only female-treble chorus that will perform this multi-movement work as a stand-alone ensemble.
SDWC will perform “Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall” on May 18 at 7pm and May 19 at 4pm at the Lincoln High School Center for Performing Arts. Both concerts are ADA-accessible and will be ASL-interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing.
